Polymaleic acid (PMA or HPMA) is used as scale inhibitor in boiler water. Combined with phosphonates, it can be widely used in cooling water systems, oilfield injection systems, sea water evaporators, sugar mill evaporator systems, reverse osmosis systems, etc.
